Thank you for this. For someone who feels far from God and wants to know if He's real and if He really exists, how does one go about it, especially during that process, when the mind and heart feel somewhat heavy and doubtful? What does one do to find God? How do we know if we're on the right track, and how do we know we'll find Him and get the answers to our questions? Also, is it wrong to look for God and to know if He really exists? What do we say to our mind during that time when it feels conflicting?
I always remind myself of the famous quote (think it's Augustine but may be wrong)...God I believe, help my unbelief. Doubt is inherent in faith. If we were certain, it wouldn't require faith. I believe God honors and wants our WILLINGNESS to believe, even when there's no objective, prove able evidence. If you choose faith, the evidence is all around us.
