The Kingdom Belongs to the Humble
Angels & Saints: A Modern Book of Common Prayer
Call to Prayer
The ones the world overlooks
are the ones God welcomes first.
Scripture
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:3 (ESV)
Written Prayer
Jesus, You do not look to flatter the strong.
Nor do you hand crowns to the confident.
You bend down to the overlooked,
the weary, the grieving, the small.
Make me small today,
not with shame,
but with humility.
Remind me that weakness is not failure,
it’s the doorway to grace.
Restore the joy of simple things in me today.
Confession & Assurance
Confession
I confess how often I pretend to be stronger than I am.
I wear confidence like armor.
I hide what hurts.
But You already see.
And still, You love.
Assurance
Jesus is close to the brokenhearted.
He does not reject the weak.
He builds His Kingdom on them.
Reflection Prompt
Where am I feeling weak right now and how might God meet me there?
Prayer from the Saints
“The foundation of our philosophy is humility.” St. John Chrysostom
Closing Benediction
Go in humility.
That’s where grace gets in.
