Held by Grace
Angels & Saints: A Modern Book of Common Prayer
Call to Prayer
This morning, I remind myself,
I wake up in grace.
Not because I earned it,
but because You oh Lord are kind.
Scripture
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)
Written Prayer
God of kindness,
I begin this day already loved.
Already seen. Already found in Your grace.
I don’t have to strive to earn what You’ve freely given.
But I forget. Help me to believe you are kind.
Help me to believe you are full of mercy.
Remind me, again and again.
Let me live like grace is real.
Let me love like grace is real.
Amen.
Confession & Assurance
Confession
Lord, I confess the pressure I put on myself.
To achieve, to impress, to prove, to validate.
Forgive me for forgetting grace.
Forgive me for acting like I’m on trial when You’ve already declared me free.
Assurance
In Christ, you are not on trial.
You are held by grace.
Let go of the pressure.
Let God hold you.
Reflection Prompt
Where do I still feel like I have something to prove?
Prayer from the Saints
“He loves each one of us as if there were only one of us.”
- St. Augustine
Closing Benediction
Be held. Be known. Be loved.
