God Is Not in a Hurry
Angels & Saints: A Modern Book of Common Prayer
Call to Prayer
Hurry is not holy.
Take a breath.
You have time to be with God.
Scripture
“For the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in quiet confidence. But you are not willing.”
Isaiah 30:15 (CSB)
Written Prayer
Slow me down, Lord.
When I confuse productivity with purpose,
remind me that You are not impressed by my speed.
Teach me to walk slowly in step with Your Spirit.
Let this day be marked by presence, not urgency.
Confession & Assurance
Confession
I confess the pace I try to keep.
I move faster than my soul can keep up.
I treat rest like a reward,
instead of a reminder that I’m not God.
Assurance
God does not rush past you.
His grace is not on a deadline.
He is walking with you, at the pace he intends.
Reflection Prompt
Where am I rushing God and why?
Prayer from the Saints
“Above all, trust in the slow work of God.”
- Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Closing Benediction
Go slowly.
Grace is not in a hurry,
and neither is God.
