Begin in Mercy
Angels & Saints: A Modern Book of Common Prayer
Call to Prayer
Come, Lord Jesus. Still my spirit, quiet all the noise that is swirling around in me. Make space in my mind for you.
Scripture
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
- Lamentations 3:22–23 (ESV)
Written Prayer
Father, thank you for another day I didn’t earn.
Before the emails, before the list, before the rush, before I try to prove anything, I slow down my breathing, I quiet myself for a moment.
Remind me: I am Yours. I am beloved. I am not alone.
God this is often so hard for me, please help me today to live like all that’s true.
Amen.
Confession & Assurance
Confession
Lord, I admit, I already feel behind. I already feel burdened. Today I have already forgot You were here.
I confess my distractions (take a moment, bring your distractions to Him), my self-dependence, and the quiet cynicism that sometimes creeps in.
Forgive me. Teach me to begin today in your mercy.
Assurance
In Christ, you are forgiven. In Christ, you are made new.
Let that truth be louder than fear.
Reflection Prompt
Ask yourself: what do I want to carry into today, and what should I leave behind?
Prayer from the Saints
“Let me seek You, O Lord, longing to know You with all my heart. And when I seek You, let me find You. And when I find You, let me love You.” - St. Anselm of CanterburyClosing Benediction
Go in peace. Walk slowly. Let mercy lead.
